Emerald Maldives Review

This summer we returned to the Maldives for the second time. Our first resort on our 2 weeks trip was the newly opened Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa.

The resort is located in the Raa Atoll, which can be reached by either direct seaplane transfer from Male International Airport or by a combination of domestic flight and speedboat.

We chose the latter, which suited our flight schedule better and also was cheaper.

The friendly hotel staff greeted us at Ifuru airport and escorted us to our speedboat. After a 40 minute trip we arrived in paradise. The moment we pulled up at the pier we saw the crystal clear turquoise water and the excitement was huge.

The team welcomed us with some drinks and a warm smile. We got introduced to our personal butler Amu who took us straight to our villa and showed us everything.

Our villa was one of the Beach Villas. The moment we entered we loved it. The design was so elegant and chique. The bed was huge, facing our private terrace with ocean view. My personal favorite was the lounge corner where I enjoyed my morning coffees.

Our terrace with direct access to the beach was perfect for a morning swim to get the day started. Some Beach Villas also have a private pool or Jacuzzi on the terrace.

Another highlight: The bathroom! It was probably the size of our flat back home. Spacious and bright and with an outdoor shower. A huge bathtub, walk-in shower and L’Occitane products were the cherry on top.

I personally also enjoyed the walk in closet very much. So overall a great space to unwind and just relax.

There are 60 Beach Villas and 60 Overwater Villas in different sizes available on the island.

The Emerald is a Deluxe All Inclusive Resort including everything from meals to alcoholic beverages. This is gives you an ease of mind. Usually All Inclusive is associated with low quality but not here. Everything was great and we enjoyed the food very much. Let me tell you a little bit more about the dining options you have on the island.

Aqua Restaurant

Aqua is the main restaurant offering breakfast, lunch and dinner. This is a buffet restaurant with a huge selection offering something for everyone.

Beach Club Grill Restaurant

This was my personal favorite. Located directly on the beach, the restaurant offers a great variety of Mediterranean choices for Lunch and Dinner. The quality of the food and the atmosphere were excellent.

Amazonico Restaurant offers Latin American cuisine and Le Asiatique is the Asian cuisine restaurant. Unfortunately we did not have the chance to experience those two options.

At Sunset Pool Cafe you can chill during the day right on the beach on one of the lounge chairs or cabanas. There ıs also a huge infinity pool.

In the afternoon, afternoon tea and pastries are offered as well as some small bites during happy hour. A perfect way to watch the sunset and end a great day. At night you can continue here with some live music or DJ performance or just play some billiard.

Of course the resort also features a Spa, a gym and a kids club for the little ones. For the more active guests there is the dive and water sports center. Non motorized water sports such as kayak or stand up paddle are free of charge.

Another great feature were the bikes each guest gets provided. An amazing way to get around the island. Make sure also to ride along the extremely long water villa deck. At the end you'll find yourself surrounded by a stunning view.

I really liked the Emerald. The beach is amazing and the Deluxe All Inclusive concept was really great. This place is perfect for couples as well as families.
