Where to stay in Gold Coast? - Rhapsody Resort Review

Updated: Mar 25, 2020

We spent 3 nights in Gold Coast at the Rhapsody Resort. Rhapsody is a 41 story building in the popular area of Surfers Paradise, just few meters from the beach. As you can imagine this combination results in some crazy views. Like really unbelievable views!

View from Rhapsody Resort

The building hosts several self catered apartments as well as residential apartments. Still it has all amenities you would expect from a hotel. Daily housekeeping, complimentary wifi, pool, In room amenities, a gym, a business center and a 24/7 reception.

We stayed at one of the One Bedroom Ocean View apartments on the 39th Floor. I cannot stress enough how insane the view was. The moment we entered the room we were like “Wooow”. It literally felt like we were in the middle of the ocean on a cruise ship. Just see for yourself.

To tell you a bit more about the apartment itself. So we had a living room with a super comfy couch and a huge TV. The kitchen and dining area were part of the living area.

The bedroom was very bright with direct access to the big balcony. Here we also had a TV, a little working desk and a mirrored closet with build in safe. Things like ironing board where also available along with a washer and dryer.

So literally, the apartment had everything to make you feel at home.

So what does self – catered actually mean? The hotel does not offer any breakfast or other meals in the room rate. The apartments are designed so you can, if you prefer, stay longer periods and take care of your laundry or cook yourself a meal. You can also order food from outside to be delivered to your apartment. For us it was great to enjoy some home cooked breakfast after being on the road for a while. Coffee and tea are offered by the hotel, everything else you can buy from one of the surrounding supermarkets. We also ordered in a couple of times. You can also enjoy a great breakfast at the Rhapsody Beachside on the ground floor. The hotel has two outdoor terraces, one on the 27th and one on the 41st floor, which can be used by residents at any time. And wait for it they have BBQs where you can actually prepare your meat. If we were to stay longer this would be the first thing I would have done. The views from here are just amazing.

On the 27th floor there is also a gym available for the residents as well as a big lounge to hang out. The pool is located on the ground floor.

Location-wise, the beach is just a 1 minute walk away and you can reach the main promenade of Surfers Paradise within 10 minute walk. Brisbane is a 1 hour drive, Gold Coast Airport 30 minutes, and Byron Bay 1 hour. So it is a great base to explore the Gold Coast. Make sure to rent a car, you’ll definitely need it and parking is free at Rhapsody. If you just want to stay in the area, the tram station is just 2 - minutes walk away.

I have to say, of all the hotels we visited in Australia, this was by far my favorite one. We had some wonderful days and recharged just enjoying the view and apartment yet still exploring places like Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary or Byron Bay.

I really can only recommend this place, but make sure to go for one of the Ocean view apartments, it is definitely worth the small price difference.
