Where to stay in Rovinj? Spirito Santo Hotel

Updated: Mar 25, 2020

Our acommodation in Rovinj was the Spirito Santo Palazzo Storico which is a true boutique hotel in all ways. With only 7 rooms the hotel consists of 3 adjacent buildings which have a history back to the 1820s. The owner turned these building into a modern yet classic and chique hotel that perfectly aligns with Rovinjs' romantic atmosphere.

The design is very modern yet the historic vibe of the building has been incorporated in many places. All 7 rooms have a different shape and setup of which some have a private terrace or some have a gorgeous view over Rovinj.

The location is perfect to explore the city. The hotel is located just a few steps away from the main town square.

The thing I liked most about this hotel was definitely the team. The moment Ivan picked us up with his golf cart we felt very welcomed. Same for Matija. Both were super attentive and took time to show us everything about the hotel as well as gave us super valuable tips about the town and places to eat. Also the lady who baked cookies and a cake for us every day and lovely Tanya who even prepared us a breakfast bag at 7 am before our flight back home. Each member of the team gave the impression to do their best to make every guest feel home and you could also tell that they love what they are doing. Even we only spent 2 nights we felt like coming home after a great day in town.

Our room was on the second floor and we had big windows on the ceiling which made it very bright. It was also great to watch the stars at night from our comfy bed. We also had a small window facing the beautiful view over Rovinj and the sea. The room was on the smaller side but had everything we need to make us feel comfortable. Especially the cookies in the room where a highlight to come back to.

Breakfast is served between 8-11AM. There is a good choice of local produce such as ham, cheese with truffle, olives and great home made jam. of course not to forget the homemade cake and the croissants. Tanyas omelette was also very tasty.

In the evening the hotels restaurant is open for hotel and non-hotel guests. There is a great selection of wines and a great menu to accompany. We loved sitting in front of the fireplace and spent some cozy time since the time we visited (April) it got quite chilly in the evening.

Overall, Spirito Santo is the perfect boutique hotel for couples looking to spend a romantic getaway with some great food and service. I would definitely come back if I where to go back to Rovinj (hopefully!)
