You are close enough to reach some of the best vineyards in just a few minutes, but far enough away to feel like you are fully immersed in nature.

What makes it even more special is that you are not just near vineyards, you are actually staying on one. The estate itself is part of the historic Blaauwklippen wine farm, one of the oldest in South Africa.

Waking up surrounded by vineyards, mountains and old oak trees sets the tone immediately. It feels peaceful, spacious and very much like the Winelands experience you imagine when planning a trip to Stellenbosch.

Das Besondere ist, dass du nicht nur in der Nähe von Weinbergen bist, sondern direkt auf einem Weingut übernachtest. Das Anwesen gehört zum historischen Blaauwklippen Wine Estate, eines der ältesten Weingüter Südafrikas.

Morgens aufzuwachen, umgeben von Weinbergen, Bergen und alten Eichen, setzt sofort die Stimmung. Es ist ruhig, weitläufig und genau dieses Kap-Weinland-Gefühl, das man sich bei einer Reise nach Stellenbosch erhofft.

Our Room: Newly Renovated, Cozy and Beautifully Designed

One of the first things that stood out to us was the room. We stayed in one of the Superior Rooms inside the Manor House. The whole property had recently been renovated and you could really feel that fresh, thoughtful design throughout the space.

The style leans slightly boho with warm tones, soft textures and carefully chosen details that make it feel both elevated and relaxed. It is the kind of room where you instantly feel comfortable.

The bed was incredibly comfortable, the lighting was soft and inviting, and everything felt well considered without being overdone.

Eines der ersten Dinge, die uns aufgefallen sind, war unser Zimmer. Wir haben in einem der Superior Rooms im Manor House übernachtet. Die gesamte Anlage wurde kürzlich renoviert und man merkt sofort, wie durchdacht und frisch das Design ist.

Der Stil geht leicht in Richtung Boho, mit warmen Farben, weichen Texturen und vielen liebevollen Details. Es wirkt gleichzeitig hochwertig und entspannt. Genau diese Mischung sorgt dafür, dass man sich sofort wohlfühlt.

Das Bett war unglaublich bequem, das Licht angenehm weich und alles wirkte stimmig, ohne überladen zu sein.

This is where Blaauwklippen Manor really surprised us in the best way. While it looks like a design-focused boutique stay, it is actually incredibly well set up for families.

The estate itself gives you so much space. There is a beautiful pool area where you can relax while the kids play, and the overall atmosphere is very laid back, which takes the pressure off traveling with a toddler.

There are also two huge playgrounds on the estate, and a bike trail for both smaller and bigger kids. This was a game changer. It means you do not have to constantly plan activities, your child can simply run around and explore, while you sip some wine and relax.

And then there is the Blaauwklippen weekend family market. If you are staying over a weekend, this is something you should definitely plan for. It is lively but still relaxed, with food stalls, local products and a really nice atmosphere that works just as well for adults as it does for kids.

Hier hat uns das Blaauwklippen Manor wirklich überzeugt. Auf den ersten Blick wirkt es wie ein designorientiertes Boutique-Hotel, aber tatsächlich ist es extrem gut auf Familien eingestellt.

Das gesamte Gelände ist weitläufig und bietet viel Platz. Es gibt einen schönen Poolbereich, an dem du entspannen kannst, während die Kinder spielen. Die Atmosphäre ist insgesamt sehr entspannt, was das Reisen mit Kleinkind deutlich angenehmer macht.

Auf dem Estate gibt es außerdem zwei große Spielplätze und einen Fahrradparkour für kleinere und größere Kinder. Für uns war das ein echter Gamechanger. Man muss nicht ständig Aktivitäten planen, sondern kann das Kind einfach frei spielen und entdecken lassen, während man selbst ein Glas Wein genießt.

Ein weiteres Highlight ist der Blaauwklippen Wochenendmarkt. Wenn du am Wochenende dort bist, solltest du ihn unbedingt einplanen. Die Stimmung ist lebendig, aber trotzdem entspannt, mit vielen Food-Ständen, lokalen Produkten und einer Atmosphäre, die sowohl für Erwachsene als auch für Kinder perfekt passt.

Another great advantage of staying at Blaauwklippen Manor is that you do not need to leave the estate to have a great food and wine experience.

Breakfast is included and it was one of our favorite parts of the stay. It combines a buffet with à la carte options, which always feels like the best of both worlds. You can keep it simple or order something more substantial depending on your mood. The options did change daily which was a nice touch.

Beyond breakfast, you also have the option to stay on the estate for lunch or dinner. This makes things very easy after a day of exploring or if you simply want to stay close and relax. Their is a restaurant dedicated to hotel guests or you can visit the restaurants and the estate, which is the Blaauwe Kitchen.

Of course, being on a wine estate also means wine tasting is right there. You can walk over to the Tasting House and enjoy a tasting without any planning or driving, which adds to that effortless Winelands feeling.

Du kannst es unkompliziert halten oder dir etwas Besonderes bestellen, je nach Stimmung. Besonders schön fanden wir, dass sich die Auswahl täglich leicht verändert hat.

Auch für Mittag- oder Abendessen kannst du auf dem Estate bleiben. Das ist ideal nach einem Ausflugstag oder wenn du einfach entspannen möchtest. Es gibt ein Restaurant speziell für Hotelgäste, oder du gehst in eines der Restaurants auf dem Gelände, wie die Blaauwe Kitchen.

Da du dich auf einem Weingut befindest, gehört natürlich auch die Weinverkostung dazu. Du kannst einfach zur Tasting House laufen und ganz entspannt eine Verkostung machen, ohne planen oder fahren zu müssen. Genau das macht dieses typische, mühelose Winelands-Gefühl aus.
