Surrounded by lush greenery and a relaxed resort atmosphere, InterContinental Shenzhen offers a completely different side of the city. Located in Overseas Chinese Town, this luxury hotel is just 15 minutes from Shenzhen’s bustling financial district, yet feels worlds away.

We started our three-week Asia trip in Shenzhen, and choosing this resort was the perfect way to begin. It allowed us to unwind, recover from jet lag, and adjust to the time zone while still being close to major attractions. For anyone looking for the best place to stay in Shenzhen, especially after a long journey, this hotel is an excellent choice.

Umgeben von üppigem Grün und einer entspannten Resort-Atmosphäre liegt das InterContinental Shenzhen in der Overseas Chinese Town. Dieses luxuriöse Hotel befindet sich nur etwa 15 Minuten vom Finanzzentrum Shenzhens entfernt und fühlt sich dennoch wie eine Oase der Ruhe an.

Wir haben unsere dreiwöchige Asienreise in Shenzhen begonnen, und dieses Resort war der perfekte Start. Es war ideal, um anzukommen, sich vom Jetlag zu erholen und sich an die neue Zeitzone zu gewöhnen, während gleichzeitig alle wichtigen Sehenswürdigkeiten gut erreichbar waren. Wer nach dem besten Ort zum Übernachten in Shenzhen sucht, trifft hier eine ausgezeichnete Wahl.

Our room was extremely comfortable, and the InterContinental brand truly delivers when it comes to quality. We had every possible amenity we could think of, and the view over the Futian skyline was impressive, especially at night. The bathroom was a highlight on its own, with the bathtub being perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring the city.

DE: Unser Zimmer war extrem komfortabel und die InterContinental-Marke steht wie erwartet für höchste Qualität. Es fehlte uns an nichts, und der Blick auf die Skyline von Futian war besonders abends beeindruckend. Das Badezimmer war ein echtes Highlight, vor allem die Badewanne, die perfekt zum Entspannen nach einem langen Tag in der Stadt war.

One of the things that makes InterContinental Shenzhen stand out among luxury hotels in Shenzhen is that you could easily spend several days here without ever needing to leave. The property offers multiple restaurants, shops, a large kids club, a spa, a beach-style pool area, and much more. It is a full resort experience in the middle of the city.

DE: Was dieses Hotel von vielen anderen Luxushotels in Shenzhen abhebt, ist das umfassende Resort-Erlebnis. Man könnte problemlos mehrere Tage auf dem Gelände verbringen, ohne das Hotel verlassen zu müssen. Es gibt mehrere Restaurants, kleine Geschäfte, einen großen Kids Club, einen Spa-Bereich, einen Strand- und Poolbereich und vieles mehr.

Our mornings started with the extensive breakfast buffet at Mercado. The selection was excellent, offering both local Chinese dishes and Western classics. The outdoor seating area, surrounded by greenery and a pond, was especially lovely and made breakfast feel calm and unrushed.

DE: Der Tag begann für uns mit einem ausgiebigen Frühstücksbuffet im Mercado. Die Auswahl war hervorragend und reichte von lokalen chinesischen Spezialitäten bis hin zu westlichen Klassikern. Besonders schön war der Außenbereich, umgeben von viel Grün und einem kleinen Teich, der für eine sehr entspannte Atmosphäre sorgte.

For dinner, we chose El Chino one evening, which offers a modern and creative take on Cantonese cuisine. The presentation was beautiful, and the food tasted just as good. It was definitely one of the culinary highlights of our stay.

DE: Zum Abendessen haben wir uns an einem Abend für das El Chino entschieden, das eine moderne und kreative Interpretation der kantonesischen Küche bietet. Die Gerichte waren nicht nur optisch ein Highlight, sondern haben auch geschmacklich überzeugt. Ein Abend, der definitiv in Erinnerung bleibt.

Our absolute favorite part of the hotel was the Joy Kids Utopia play area. This large indoor and outdoor space is designed for children, and our little one loved it. We spent hours here, which makes this hotel an outstanding option for a family vacation in Shenzhen.

DE: Unser persönliches Highlight war der Joy Kids Utopia Spielbereich. Diese große Indoor- und Outdoor-Spielwelt für Kinder ist perfekt für Familien, und unser kleiner Sohn war begeistert. Wir haben hier viele Stunden verbracht, was das Hotel zu einer hervorragenden Wahl für einen Familienurlaub in Shenzhen macht.

The pool and beach area deserve special mention as well. A small stretch of sand leads directly into the pool, creating a beach-like atmosphere. If this had not been our first visit to Shenzhen, we could easily have spent all three days relaxing on the sun loungers. The atmosphere was incredibly peaceful and felt more like a seaside holiday than a stay in one of China’s busiest cities.

Even with three nights, we did not have enough time to enjoy all the hotel amenities. The gym, spa, and indoor pool all looked fantastic and added to the overall luxury resort feel.

DE: Auch der Pool- und Strandbereich ist besonders erwähnenswert. Ein kleiner Sandstrand führt direkt in den Pool und sorgt für echtes Urlaubsfeeling. Wäre dies nicht unser erster Besuch in Shenzhen gewesen, hätten wir problemlos alle drei Tage entspannt auf den Sonnenliegen verbringen können. Die Atmosphäre war ruhig und erinnerte eher an einen Strandurlaub als an einen Aufenthalt in einer der größten Städte Chinas.

Trotz drei Nächte hatten wir nicht genug Zeit, um alle Annehmlichkeiten des Hotels zu nutzen. Das Fitnessstudio, der Spa-Bereich und der Indoor-Pool sahen allesamt wunderschön aus und unterstrichen den luxuriösen Charakter des Hotels.

In terms of location, the hotel is perfectly situated in OCT, also known as Overseas Chinese Town. OCT Loft and OCT Harbour are nearby, and the central Futian district is just a short drive away. The subway station is located directly in front of the hotel, making it easy to get around. Popular attractions such as Splendid China and Window of the World are within walking distance.
