It was our second time in Singapore and we chose Swissotel Merchant Court again for our layover on our way to Australia. We stayed here 2 years ago and loved it so much that we returned to our Singapore 'home' without doubt.
The location is right on Clarke Quay, which is the entertainment and nightlife area of Singapore. So location-wise: Perfect! It is also within a walking distance to the subway and Marina Bay is just around 25 minutes by foot.
Speaking of Marina Bay, our room had amazing views over the Marina Bay Sands on the one side and on the other side we could overlook Clarke Quay. Our room was an Executive Room, which was located on the top floor, hence the view :)
The room itself was very clean and comfy. The best thing was the view and the bed was so comfy, exactly what we needed after a 12 hour journey. Upon arrival sweets and some gifts were awaiting us and we had a mini kitchen with coffee and tea. Amenities in the room were great. From toothbrush to slippers and robe, everything was there.
Guests of the Executive Rooms have access to the Executive Lounge, which is a small lounge on the 11th floor, with stunning views. You can enjoy complimentary drinks during the day and in the evening between 6-8pm during happy hour you can have alcoholic drinks and snacks too. Don't be fooled by the word snacks, one evening we stopped by for snacks but ended up skipping dinner.
You can also have breakfast at the lounge although I'd definitely recommend the main restaurant, Ellenborough Market Cafe, for breakfast since the selection is way more diverse. But if you want to have a quite breakfast than the Executive Lounge is perfect.
The hotel also has a great pool area and spa which we unfortunately didn't have time to check out.
I'd really recommend this hotel due to it's great location and comfort. Yes it is not cheap but the included breakfast and the Executive Lounge are great perks to save some money since dining out is really expensive too. To check out the rates click here.
