It is that time of the year again. The weather is cold and grey and we are desperate to get some sun. So we could not think of a better time to head back to all time favorite destination: the Maldives.
This time was going to be an extra special trip: Our babymoon! It is our 4th time in the Maldives and if you ask me the perfect place to enjoy a last holiday as a couple.
DE: Es ist wieder soweit. Das Wetter ist kalt und grau und wir sehnen uns nach etwas Sonne. Wir konnten uns also keinen besseren Zeitpunkt vorstellen, um zu unserem Lieblingsort zurückzukehren: die Malediven.
Diesmal sollte es eine ganz besondere Reise werden: Unser Babymoon! Es ist unser 4. Mal auf den Malediven und wenn Ihr mich fragt, der perfekte Ort, um einen letzten Urlaub zu zweit zu genießen.
Our first stop was the Kuramathi Maldives. We took an early morning seaplane ride with Transmaldivian Airlines from Male which took us 25 minutes. The hotel also offers speedboat transfers which take 90 minutes. So you have the option to chose. When approaching the island I was stunned by the fact how big it is. I believe this is the biggest island resort I have been to so far and was very excited to explore every corner of it.
DE: Unser erster Stopp war das Kuramathi Maldives. Wir hatten am frühen Morgen einen Flug mit dem Wasserflugzeug mit Transmaldivian Airlines von Male aus, welcher ca 25 Minuten gedauert hat. Das Hotel bietet auch Transfers mit dem Boot an, was wiederum 90 Minuten dauert. Ihr habt also die Möglichkeit zu wählen. Als wir unseren Anflug auf die Insel machten, war ich erstaunt, wie groß sie ist. Ich glaube, es ist das größte Inselresort, in dem ich bisher war, und ich freute mich schon, jeden Winkel der Insel zu erkunden.
After the usual welcome drink and checkin process we were lucky enough that our villa was already ready for checkin. After almost 15 hours of travel we were more than ready to meet our home for the next days. We took a short buggy ride through the island and I loved how lush this island is. There is even a 300 year old banyan tree.
DE: Nach dem üblichen Begrüßungsgetränk und dem Check-in-Prozess hatten wir das Glück, dass unsere Villa bereits zum Check-in bereit war. Nach einer fast 15 stündigen Reise waren wir mehr als bereit, unser Zuhause für die nächsten Tage zu sehen. Nach einer kurzen Buggyfahrt durch die Insel waren wir schon da. Ich fand es toll, wie grün diese Insel ist. Es gibt sogar einen 300 Jahre alten Banyan Tree.
Our villa was one of the Deluxe Water Villas (No 426) on the North shore of the island. It was not our first water villa experience but it still takes our breath away every time. The villa is really spacious and has a huge private terrace. Ours did not have a pool but there are also water villas with pool available. As always my personal highlight was the crystal clear turquoise waters right in front of us and the little stretch of beach next to our villa. The villa is equipped with everything you might need, including a Nespresso machine.
DE: Unsere Villa war eine der Deluxe Water Villas (Nr. 426) an der Nordküste der Insel. Es war nicht unser erstes Mal in einer Wasservilla, aber es raubt uns jedes Mal den Atem. Die Villa ist wirklich geräumig und hat eine riesige Terrasse. Unsere Villa hatte keinen Pool, aber es gibt auch Wasservillen mit Pool. Mein persönliches Highlight war wie immer das kristallklare türkisfarbene Wasser direkt vor unserer Haustüre und der kleine Strandabschnitt neben unserer Villa. Die Villa ist mit allem ausgestattet, was Ihr braucht, einschließlich einer Nespresso-Maschine.
The resort offers several meal plans: Breakfast, Half Board, Full Board and All Inclusive. We were on the Full Board plan which includes 3 daily meals at the buffet restaurants and non alcoholic beverages during the meals. If you prefer an extra ease of mind, the All Inclusive package might be the best solution since all restaurants, and there are a lot, and alcohol are included.
DE: Das Resort bietet verschiedene Speisepläne: Frühstück, Halbpension, Vollpension und All Inclusive. Wir waren auf Vollpension was 3 tägliche Mahlzeiten in den Buffetrestaurants und alkoholfreie Getränke während der Mahlzeiten beinhaltet. Wenn Ihr sorglos genießen wollt, ist das All-Inclusive-Paket möglicherweise die beste Lösung, da alle Restaurants, und es gibt viele, und Alkohol inbegriffen sind.
Since the island is so big there are 3 buffet restaurants and you will be allocated to nearest one to your room. Inn our case it was Farivalhu restaurant, which serves Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, buffet style. The setting is beautiful right next to the ocean so you always have a stunning view. The food was changing daily and included a wide range of choices from different cuisines. It was a combination of live cooking stations and buffet.
DE: Da die Insel so groß ist, gibt es 3 Buffetrestaurants und euch wird das nächstgelegene zu eurem Zimmer zugewiesen. In unserem Fall war es das Restaurant Farivalhu, welches Frühstück, Mittag- und Abendessen in Buffetform anbietet. Die Lage ist wunderschön, direkt am Meer, sodass Ihr immer eine atemberaubende Aussicht habt. Das Angebot wechselte täglich und beinhaltete eine große Auswahl aus verschiedenen internationalen Gerichten. Es war eine Kombination aus Live-Cooking-Stationen und Buffet.
The resort is home to 10 different restaurants and several bars. Of course we were not able to try all of them but we opted for two A La Carte during our stay to try something different than the buffet.
We had lunch at Palm which is the Italian Al La Carte Restaurant, open for Lunch and Dinner. The setting nested among palm trees was beautiful and the pasta was delicious. Make also sure to try the handmade ice cream which was devine!
DE: Das Resort beherbergt 10 verschiedene Restaurants und mehrere Bars. Natürlich konnten wir nicht alle probieren, aber wir entschieden uns während unseres Aufenthalts für zwei A La Carte Restaurants, um mal etwas anderes als das Buffet zu probieren.
Wir aßen im Palm zu Mittag, dem italienischen À-la-carte-Restaurant, das zum Mittag- und Abendessen geöffnet ist. Die Lage inmitten von Palmen war wunderschön und die Pasta war sehr lecker. Probiert auch unbedingt das hausgemachte Eis. Es war einfach nur traumhaft lecker!
We also treated ourselves with a romantic dinner at The Reef on our last evening. This is the resorts Seafood restaurant which served freshly caught fish and seafood which you can chose right at the fish counter. The atmosphere and the food, both were great.
DE: An unserem letzten Abend haben wir uns auch ein romantisches Abendessen im The Reef gegönnt. Dies ist das Fischrestaurant des Resorts, welches frisch gefangenen Fisch und Meeresfrüchte serviert. Ihr könnt euch euren Fisch direkt an der Fischtheke aussuchen. Beides, die Atmosphäre und das Essen, waren großartig.
For sunset we always went to Laguna Bar which has a stunning infinity pool, the resort has 3 pools in total, and unlimited views over the sunset. There is also a DJ performance during sunset times. So perfect to have some drinks and end the day.
DE: Zum Sonnenuntergang waren wir immer in der Laguna Bar, die einen wunderschönen Infinity-Pool hat, das Resort hat insgesamt 3 Pools, und unbegrenzten Blick auf den Sonnenuntergang. Während des Sonnenuntergangs gibt es auch eine DJ-Performance. Also perfekt, um ein paar Drinks zu trinken und den Tag ausklingen zu lassen.
Almost every evening there is a different entertainment program in the different bars. My all time favorite was the resident band at Dhoni Bar.
So as you can see there are many dining options and especially if you are staying for a longer period of time I would definitely recommend the All inclusive package so you can try all A La Carte restaurants.
DE: Fast jeden Abend gibt es in den verschiedenen Bars ein anderes Unterhaltungsprogramm. Mein absoluter Favorit war die Hausband in der Dhoni Bar.
Wie Ihr seht, gibt es viele Restaurants und Optionen und vor allem wenn Ihr längere Zeit bleibt, würde ich auf jeden Fall das All-Inclusive-Paket empfehlen, damit Ihr alle A-la-Carte-Restaurants ausprobieren könnt und Abwechslung habt.
Another beautiful feature of the resort is the private sandbank. Usually you have to take a boat ride to visit a sandbank and it comes with an extra fee, but at Kuramathi you can walk to it. It is also the best place to watch the sunset.
DE: Ein weiteres Highlight des Resorts ist die private Sandbank. Normalerweise muss man immer mit dem Boot zu einer Sandbank fahren und es ist meistens kostenpflichtig, aber im Kuramathi könnt Ihr einfach dorthin laufen. Es ist auch der beste Ort, um den Sonnenuntergang zu sehen.
To get around the island there is a frequent ring shuttle running. As said, it's a big island and walking can get exhausting especially during the midday heat.
For families with kids, there is a big kids club in the center of the island and there is also an Eco center which is home to a real whale skeleton. Definitely make sure to stop by.
DE: Um sich auf der Insel fortzubewegen, verkehrt regelmäßig ein Ring-Shuttle. Wie gesagt, es ist eine große Insel und das Laufen kann besonders in der Mittagshitze anstrengend werden.
Für Familien mit Kindern gibt es im Herzen der Insel einen großen Kids Club und auch ein Eco Center, in dem ein echtes Walskelett zu sehen ist. Unbedingt vorbeischauen!
Usually I always treat myself with a visit to the spa when in the Maldives, but unfortunately lying on my belly was not possible anymore (hello babybump), so I did not have the chance to check it out. But I did spy the outdoor overwater massage area right across our villa which looked like an amazing experience.
DE: Normalerweise gönne ich mir auf den Malediven immer einen Spa-Besuch, aber auf dem Bauch liegen war leider nicht mehr möglich (Hallo Babybauch), daher hatte ich diesmal keine Gelegenheit. Aber ich habe den Überwasser-Massagebereich im Freien direkt gegenüber unserer Villa gesehen und war schon ein bisschen neidisch.
On the day of departure our seaplane ride had a 1 hour delay but this was not a problem at all, since we had 1 more hour in paradise. We enjoyed one last drink at Sand Bar before we started our trip to Male.
DE: Am Abreisetag hatte unser Flug 1 Stunde Verspätung, aber das war überhaupt kein Problem, 1 Stunde mehr im Paradies. Wir haben einen letzten Drink in der Sand Bar genossen, bevor wir unsere Reise nach Male los ging.
Overall we had a lovely stay at Kuramathi. A resort that is definitely suitable for all kinds of travellers, from couples to families or a group of friends. I also liked the many different dining options and even when not on All Inclusive Package the prices were really reasonable. There are room types available for every budget and need but I would definitely recommend a water villa since it is such an unique Maldives experience. To check out rates click here.

Ein Resort, das definitiv für alle Arten von Reisenden geeignet ist, von Paaren über Familien bis hin zu einer Gruppe von Freunden. Mir gefielen auch die vielen verschiedenen Speisemöglichkeiten und selbst wenn man nicht im All-Inclusive-Paket war, waren die Preise wirklich vernünftig.
