Iguazu falls is the world's largest waterfall formation, consisting of 275 waterfalls. It is located on the border between Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. These three countries are separated by the Iguazu river. It is possible to see the falls from sides both Brazil and Argentina. You can't see it from Paraguay though.

Our second stop in South America after Rio de Janeiro was 'Foç de Iguaçu', Iguazu waterfalls. We landed at Foç de Iguaçu (Brasil) airport in the evening, The journey took 2 hours by plane from Rio (with Latam Airlines). We weren't going to look at the waterfalls from the Brazilian side, so we immediately hit the road to our hotel on the Argentinian side. We told the taxi stand at the airport where we want go and agreed on a fixed price, we even made the payment in advance with a credit card. Taking a taxi from Brazil to Argentina costed 190 BRL. Our driver waited while we went to the immigration officer at the border and then we crossed the Iguazu river and set foot in Argentina. The whole journey took about 20 minutes. If you have time, you can also spend 1 day on the Brazilian side. Here you have the opportunity to view the waterfalls from another angle and you also have the opportunity to watch it by helicopter (this is forbidden in Argentina).

Am Abend landeten wir am Flughafen Foç de Iguaçu (Brasilien). Die Reise von Rio (mit Latam Airlines) dauerte 2 Stunden mit dem Flugzeug. Da unser Hotel auf der argentinischen Seite war, machten wir uns sofort auf den Weg. Wir haben dem Taxistand am Flughafen gesagt, wohin wir hin wollen und vereinbarten einen festen Preis, wir zahlten sogar im Voraus mit einer Kreditkarte. Ein Taxi von Brasilien nach Argentinien kostet ca 190 BRL. Unser Fahrer wartete, während wir zum Einwanderungsbeamten an der Grenze gingen. Dann überquerten wir den Iguazu-Fluss und betraten Argentinien. Die gesamte Fahrt dauerte ungefähr 20 Minuten. Wenn Ihr Zeit habt, könnt Ihr auch 1 Tag auf der brasilianischen Seite verbringen. Hier hat Ihr die Möglichkeit, die Wasserfälle aus einem anderen Blickwinkel zu betrachten und auch mit dem Hubschrauber drüber zu fliegen (dies ist in Argentinien verboten).
Our hotel was a cute pension called La Posada La Sorgente. It is located in the city of Puerto Iguazu on the Argentinian side. This is the city center and the National Park is 20-25 minutes by car. There are also big hotels close to the waterfalls, some hotels have even a direct view on the waterfalls. We paid 48 Euros for 1 night stay and we were very happy with the hotel.

The next day we went to Iguazu National Park in the morning. You can either take a taxi or take a bus from Puerto Iguazu bus terminal. We chose the bus and paid 270 Argentine pesos per person, round trip. The journey took half an hour. The entrance to the national park costs around $ 10 per person. With this ticket, you can visit all the waterfalls and use the train inside the park. You can also buy rafting tours, etc. for an additional fee. If you go again the next day, you can show the previous day's ticket and enter the park with a 50% discount. I believe 1 day is enough to see the major parts.
DE: Am nächsten Morgen sind wir zum Iguazu National Park aufgebrochen. Ihr könnt entweder ein Taxi oder den Bus vom Busbahnhof Puerto Iguazu nehmen. Wir entschieden uns für den Bus und haben 270 argentinische Pesos pro Person für die Hin- und Rückfahrt bezahlt. Die Fahrt dauert eine halbe Stunde. Der Eintritt in den Nationalpark kostet ca. 10 USD pro Person. Mit diesem Ticket könnt Ihr alle Wasserfälle besuchen und den Zug im Park benutzen. Gegen eine zusätzliche Gebühr könnt Ihr auch Raftingtouren usw. kaufen. Wenn Ihr am nächsten Tag nochmal hingeht, könnt Ihr das Ticket des Vortages vorzeigen und bekommt 50% Rabatt für den Tag. Ich denke, ein Tag reicht vollkommen aus, um die Hauptteile zu sehen.
The park is huge and there are different routes where you can see the waterfalls. We chose the upper route and then we went to the 'Devil's Throat', the biggest waterfall. You can take the train to get there but expect to queue for the train. An incredible view awaited us. In the meantime, keep in mind, you will walk quite a bit in the park and get very wet, so make sure to dress accordingly. If you are in South America, you must add Iguazu Falls to your itinerary, it is really impressive. In the evening, we visited the center of Puerto Iguazu and had some food. The city is very small and there is not much to do, but we still ate one of the best meals here. Go to Barraca do Gaúcho and eat some Empanadas and meat. It was so delicious and the atmosphere was so fun.
DE: Der Park ist riesig und es gibt verschiedene Routen, von denen Ihr die Wasserfälle sehen könnt. Wir haben die obere Route genommen und sind dann zum 'Devil's Throat', ,dem größten Wasserfall, gefahren. Ihr könnt den Zug nehmen, um dorthin zu gelangen, müsst euch aber für den Zug ziemlich lange anstellen. Eine unglaubliche Aussicht erwartete uns. Denkt daran, dass Ihr im Park sehr viel laufen müsst und Ihr werdet sehr nass. Zieht euch daher entsprechend an. Wenn Ihr in Südamerika seit, müsst Ihr Iguazu Falls auf jeden Fall auf eure Reiseroute hinzufügen, es ist wirklich beeindruckend. Am Abend haben wir das Zentrum von Puerto Iguazu besucht und etwas gegessen. Die Stadt ist sehr klein und es gibt nicht viel zu tun, aber wir haben hier eine der besten Mahlzeiten gegessen. Geht zu Barraca do Gaúcho und esst die Empanadas und Fleisch. Es war so lecker und die Atmosphäre war so schön.
