Where to stay in Sydney? - Little Albion, a Crystalbrook Collection Boutique Hotel Review

Updated: Mar 25, 2020

The Little Albion, a Crystalbrook Collection Boutique Hotel in Surry Hills Sydney was our second stop during our time in the city. I have to say this place was a real delight. From the outside it is a charming historical building from the early 1900s located on a green street in the the hip neighbourhood Surry Hills. When we entered I immediately knew that this is a special place and we will have a great stay. Why? Well the design speaks for itself. It is classy, modern and quirky. The colors and artwork are well chosen and give the whole place a warm atmosphere.

We were friendly greeted by one of the staff members and luckily our room was already ready way before official checkin time so we headed straight up. It was on the 4th floor and was the 'Classic' room type. So let me tell you a bit more about the room.

It was sooo pretty. Like exactly my taste. The fabrics, the bathroom, the coffee cups, the bathrobes, really everything. As you can see on the images, small details make a big contribution to the general feel of a hotel. It is not just a place to sleep anymore, it is your cosy home during your time away from home. Something I really appreciate when hotels strive towards this vision and try to make a difference.

A small continental breakfast was included in the room rate. Don’t expect a huge buffet but we had a tasty start into the day with pastries, yoghurt and different cheeses and of course coffee.

On the 5th floor you will find a little hidden gem, the rooftop. It’s small and intimate with a view towards Sydneys downtown. Perfect to enjoy your morning coffee and soak up some sun. Or you can make yourself a drink from the hotels self service bar or order from one of the hotels partner restaurants and enjoy it up there.

Location wise, the hotel is located in the heart of Surry Hills just a few minutes walk away from Crown Street where you have many cool restaurants, shops and bars. Even Downtown, The Rocks, Chinatown and Paddington are within 20 minutes walk. Also Central Station is just nearby. So location wise we really loved it.

While you are in the neighborhood:

Have a coffee at the nearby Surry O's or Paramount House. Eat breakfast at Bill’s or Reuben Hills. Spend an evening at Rosie Capmbell’s or Chin Chin.
