Our final leg of our Mauritius trip was the South East of the island. We checked into the fairly new Anantara Iko Mauritius. We chose this resort due to it’s close proximity to the airport (only 10 minutes drive) since or return flight was very early. We also wanted to visit the Blue Bay Marine Reserve, which is just a stone throw away from the resort.
DE: Unsere letzte Etappe unserer Reise auf Mauritius war der Südosten der Insel. Wir checkten im ziemlich neuen Anantara Iko Mauritius ein. Wir haben uns für dieses Resort aufgrund seiner Nähe zum Flughafen (nur 10 Fahrtminuten) entschieden, da unser Rückflug sehr früh war. Wir wollten auch das Blue Bay Marine Reserve besuchen, das nur einen Steinwurf vom Resort entfernt ist.
The resort is part of the famous Anantara group and has a big focus on well-being and health. This was reflected throughout the whole concept and we definitely had some relaxing last days in Mauritius.
DE: Das Resort ist Teil der berühmten Anantara-Gruppe und legt großen Wert auf Wohlbefinden und Gesundheit. Das hat sich im gesamten Konzept widergespiegelt und wir hatten auf jeden Fall ein paar entspannte letzte Tage auf Mauritius.
The checkin went smooth and we headed straight to our room, a Deluxe Ocean View room. The rooms are all brand new and very modern and spacious. The bed was extremely comfortable and the morning view over the lush greens and ocean were a highlight. For some extra great views make sure to ask for a room on the upper floors.
DE: Das Einchecken verlief reibungslos und wir sind direkt zu unserem Zimmer gegangen, einem Deluxe-Zimmer mit Meerblick. Die Zimmer sind alle brandneu und sehr modern und geräumig gestaltet. Das Bett war sehr bequem und der morgendliche Blick über das üppige Grün und das Meer war ein Highlight. Für eine besonders tolle Aussicht fragt unbedingt nach einem Zimmer in den oberen Etagen.
Since we arrived in the afternoon we headed to dinner to the resorts signature restaurant sea.fire.salt. The location and décor of the restaurant is beautiful. The menu is A La Carte and part of the menu items are included in the Half Board Package, some come with a supplement. The service was impeccable, and the food was good as well. Make sure to reserve in advance.
DE: Da wir am Nachmittag ankamen, war es schon bald Zeit fürs Abendessen. Am ersten Abend waren wir im hoteleigenen Restaurant sea.fire.salt. Die Lage und das Design des Restaurants ist wunderschön. Das Menü ist à la carte und ein Teil der Speisen ist im Halbpensionspaket enthalten, einige sind mit einem Aufpreis verbunden. Der Service war tadellos und das Essen war auch gut. Reserviert unbedingt im Voraus.
After dinner we spent some time at the Karokan Bar, which is the day and night bar of the resort. On some evenings there was live music. Make sure to try their signature cocktails. Also the mocktails were great.
DE: Nach dem Abendessen verbrachten wir einige Zeit in der Karokan Bar, der Hauptbar des Resorts. An manchen Abenden gab es Live-Musik. Probiert unbedingt die signature Cocktails. Auch die Mocktails waren großartig.
Breakfast is served daily at the buffet restaurant Horizon. I really liked the variety of options and the fact that egg dishes and sweet options like waffles and crepes were prepared freshly upon request. Dinners at Horizon were also good with many options available.
DE: Das Frühstück wird täglich im Buffetrestaurant Horizon serviert. Sehr gut gefallen hat mir die Vielfalt der Speisen und die Tatsache, dass Eierspeisen und süßes wie Waffeln und Crêpes auf Wunsch frisch zubereitet wurden. Das Abendessen im Horizon war auch gut mit vielen Alternativen.
Other food outlets are the Bon Manzer, which is vegetarian restaurant, especially great for a quick bite or lunch. For an extra special evening you can book a private degustation dinner at Zafran. During the entire day there are also snacks and light meals available at the Karokan Bar.
DE: Andere gastronomische Einrichtungen sind das Bon Manzer, ein vegetarisches Restaurant, das sich besonders gut für einen schnellen Happen oder ein Mittagessen eignet. Für einen ganz besonderen Abend könnt SieIhr im Zafran ein privates Degustationsdinner buchen. Den ganzen Tag über sind auch Snacks und leichte Mahlzeiten in der Karokan Bar erhältlich.
The resort has a main pool located in the center of the property. The beach is a bit further out and also open to the public but we were mostly the only ones there. The water is crystal clear and great for swimming since it is not too shallow.
DE: Das Resort verfügt über einen Hauptpool im Mittelpunkt des Anwesens. Der Strand ist etwas weiter draußen und auch für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich, aber wir waren meistens die einzigen dort. Das Wasser ist kristallklar und ideal zum Schwimmen, da es schnell tief wird.
Of course the resort is home to the Anantara Spa, which I heard is really a highlight. There is also a fully equipped gym. I really liked the daily activities schedule which mainly included sports activities like archery class, a hike to the nearby forest, kayak ect. So there is always something to do. For the little ones there is the kids club.
DE: Natürlich beherbergt das Resort das Anantara Spa, was, wie ich gehört habe, wirklich ein Highlight ist. Es gibt auch ein voll ausgestattetes Fitnessstudio. Ich mochte den täglichen Aktivitätenplan sehr, der hauptsächlich sportliche Aktivitäten wie Bogenschießen, eine Wanderung in den nahe gelegenen Wald, Kajak usw. umfasste. Es gibt also immer etwas zu tun. Für die Kleinen gibt es den Kids Club.
On our last day we arranged a boat trip to Blue Bay and Ile Aux Cerfs through the resort. They work with the boat company Aqua Soleil and we were beyond happy. The tour starts right next to the resort so you don’t have to drive for hours in the morning which was very convenient.
The next morning our driver picked us up at 5 am to take us to the airport. The Anantara team prepared a breakfast box for us which I found extremely thoughtful.
Overall we had some very relaxing and chilled last days in Mauritius. I would recommend Anantara Iko to everyone who is looking for a convenient location to experience the Blue Bay area or be close to the airport. Or if you just want to reconnect and enjoy the facilities like the spa.
DE: An unserem letzten Tag organisierten wir eine Bootsfahrt nach Blue Bay und Ile Aux Cerfs über das Hotel. Sie arbeiten mit der Bootsfirma Aqua Soleil zusammen und wir waren mehr als zufrieden. Die Tour beginnt direkt neben dem Resort, sodass ihr morgens nicht stundenlang fahren müsst, was sehr praktisch war.
Am nächsten morgen ging es fur uns um 5 Uhr morgens zum Flughafen. Das Anantara team hat uns eine Frühstücksbox für unterwegs vorbereitet was ich als sehr aufmerksam empfand.
Insgesamt hatten wir einige sehr entspannte letzte Tage auf Mauritius. Ich würde das Anantara Iko jedem empfehlen, der nach einer günstigen Lage sucht, um die Gegend rund um Blue Bay zu erkunden oder um in der Nähe des Flughafens zu sein. Oder wenn ihr euch einfach nur entspannen und die Einrichtungen wie das Spa genießen möchtet.
