Never would I've thought that I will write a destination guide about the Maldives one day. Usually each island in the Maldives is home to one resort and visitors do not see much outside their resort.
What if I were to tell you that there now is a place where you can shop, eat, discover and spend a relaxing holiday at the same time? Well there is :)
DE: Ich hätte nie gedacht, dass ich mal einen Städteguide für die Malediven schreiben werde. Normalerweise beherbergt jede Insel auf den Malediven ein Resort und Besucher sehen außerhalb des Resorts nicht viel.
Was wäre, wenn ich euch sagen würde, dass es jetzt einen Ort gibt, an dem Ihr gleichzeitig einkaufen, essen, entdecken und einen erholsamen Urlaub verbringen könnt?
Crossroads Maldives is a totally new concept brought to the Maldives. It is the Maldives' first multi island integrated destination.
Currently it consists of three main islands, Saii Lagoon Resort, Hard Rock Hotel and the Marina, all connected with each other. 6 other islands are being constructed right now so in the future this complex will host 9 islands in total.
The location is really close to Male and it takes only 15-20 minutes by speedboat. Transfers are available at any time of the day.
DE: Crossroads Maldives ist ein völlig neues Konzept auf den Malediven. Es ist der erste integrierte Inselkomplex der Malediven mit mehreren Inseln.
Derzeit besteht es aus drei Inseln, dem Saii Lagoon Resort, dem Hard Rock Hotel und der Marina, welche alle miteinander verbunden sind. Derzeit werden 6 weitere Inseln gebaut, sodass dieser Komplex in Zukunft aus insgesamt 9 Inseln bestehen wird.
Die Lage ist in der Nähe von Male und es dauert nur 15-20 Minuten mit dem Speedboot. Transfers sind rundum die Uhr verfügbar.
Currently Crossroads is only accessible for guests of Saii Lagoon and Hard Rock Maldives due to Covid restrictions but in the future the idea is, that this place will be open to the public. So anyone can visit this place and spend the day here.

DE: Derzeit ist das Crossroads aufgrund von Covid-Beschränkungen nur für Gäste des Saii Lagoon und des Hard Rock Maldives zugänglich. In Zukunft soll es jedoch für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich sein. So kann jeder diesen Ort besuchen und den Tag hier verbringen.

So first of all this is a Marina. So for the first time ever in the Maldives there is a place for yacht owners to dock and spend some leisure time. The marina can accommodate ships up to 60 meters. Around the round shaped lagoon many different restaurants are lined up. These restaurants are also accessible by the hotel guests and most of them are actually included in the meal plans.
DE: Zuallererst ist dies eine Marina. Zum ersten Mal auf den Malediven gibt es einen Ort, an dem Yachtbesitzer anlegen und etwas Freizeit verbringen können. Der Yachthafen bietet Platz für Schiffe bis zu 60 Metern. Rund um die runde Lagune reihen sich viele verschiedene Restaurants aneinander. Diese Restaurants sind auch für die Hotelgäste zugänglich und die meisten von ihnen sind sogar in den Speiseplänen inkludiert.
We had dinner Kebap & Kurry, the Indian restaurant at the Marina. The food was super yummy and the atmosphere is really great. Make sure to reserve a table outside by the promenade.
DE: Wir haben einen Abend im Kebap & Kurry gegessen, das indische Restaurant in der Marina. Das Essen war großartig und die Atmosphäre ist wirklich schön. Ich empfehle einen Tisch draußen an der Promenade zu reservieren, da ist es am schönsten.
The other restaurants are Kinkao (Thai cuisine), Ministry of Crab, Nihonbashi (Japanese), Carne Diem (Premium steakhouse) and of course the Hard Rock Cafe.
DE: Die anderen Restaurants sind Kinkao (thailändische Küche), Ministry of Crab, Nihonbashi (Japanisch), Carne Diem (Premium Steakhouse) und natürlich das Hard Rock Cafe.
Soon there will be also a Chinese and a Maldivian restaurant opening. For the small appetite there will be several small shops like Submore, Mövenpick Icecream and some coffee shops.
Across the marinas inner promenade there are many shops. I loved the idea of taking an evening walk here before or after dinner. There are already many shops open, from local designers to the Candy Shop, from Rip Curl to the Hard Rock shop. There are also essential shops like a small mini mart, telecom providers and an ATM.
DE: Bald wird es auch ein chinesisches und ein maledivisches Restaurant geben. Für den kleinen Appetit gibt es mehrere kleine Läden wie Submore, Mövenpick Icecream und einige Coffeeshops.
Auf der inneren Promenade des Yachthafens gibt es viele verschiedene Geschäfte. Ich fand es besonders toll, hier vor oder nach dem Abendessen einen Abendspaziergang zu machen und die Geschäfte zu erkunden. Es sind bereits viele Geschäfte geöffnet, von lokalen Designern bis zum Candy Shop, von Rip Curl bis zum Hard Rock Shop. Es gibt auch Geschäfte für den täglichen Bedarf wie einen kleinen Minimarkt, Handyanbieter und einen Geldautomaten.
The Lèn Spa, which is also the Spa of Saii Lagoon is as well located in the Marina. Day visitors will be able to book a treatment here.
DE: Das Lèn Spa, welches auch das Spa des Saii Lagoon ist, befindet sich ebenfalls in der Marina. Tagesbesucher können hier eine auch Behandlung buchen.
The Beach Club will be open to the public too. It will be accessible via a day pass and is a great place to spend some beach time.
DE: The Beach Club wird auch für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich sein. Der Eintritt wird kostenpflichtig sein. Echt ein cooler Ort, um etwas Zeit am Strand zu verbringen.
Make also sure to visit the Maldives Discovery Center which is mini museum showcasing Maldivian History in a fun way.
DE: Besucht auch auf jeden Fall das Maldives Discovery Center, ein Mini-Museum, das die maledivische Geschichte auf unterhaltsame Weise zeigt.
Crossroads will be also a destination for private and business events. The huge event hall can host conventions and business events as well as weddings and other celebrations. The neighbouring hotels are also designed to host such kind of groups with their twin room options.
DE: Crossroads wird auch ein Ziel für private und geschäftliche Veranstaltungen sein. In der großen Veranstaltungshalle können Kongresse und Geschäftsveranstaltungen sowie Hochzeiten und andere Feiern organisiert werden. Die benachbarten Hotels sind auch so konzipiert, dass sie solche Gruppen mit ihren Zweibettzimmern aufnehmen können.
There is even a co working space called The Space. Who wouldn't love working remotely from here.
Overall I really like the whole concept and can't wait to experience it when it is fully opened and vibrant. If you are staying at one of the resorts within the complex you will have plenty to explore just a few steps nearby.
I would also recommend to visit this place for a day trip. It is so close that you could even spend a few hours here while waiting for you flight.

Insgesamt gefällt mir das gesamte Konzept sehr gut und ich kann es kaum erwarten, es zu erleben, wenn es vollständig geöffnet und lebendig ist. Wenn Ihr in einem der Resorts innerhalb des Komplexes übernachtet, habt in der Nähe viel zu entdecken.
Ich würde auch empfehlen, Crossroads für einen Tagesausflug zu besuchen. Es ist so nah, dass Ihr sogar ein paar Stunden hier verbringen könnt, während Ihr auf euren Flug warten.
